Gala Fees

For non PTL /Aquasprint Meets. Please hand fees for meets to Patricia Telfer or to Gary McWilliams, Treasurer in a marked enveloppe

Parents need to be available to volunteer if their children are swimming - selling programmes, timekeeping and marshalling are jobs that unqualified persons can do.

Please communicate with other parents to job share. Sessions may be up to 3 hours

Volunteer Training

None necessary for many volunteer posts

Level 1 Officials Course will qualify you for TimeKeeping - especially useful if you have swimmers at National Level.

Level 2 Officials Course will train volunteers to work in starters role or stroke or turn judge at meets - I would encourage anyone with teaching or coaching qualifications to go down this route, as you understand the strokes etc more easily.

Level 3 referee Offcials are usually taken through a programme of events and training lasts several years - Referees can work in any post at meets and up to referee in many meets. Qualified and experienced Referees may referee at nationals or abroad

Senior Officials may opt to go onto the FINA route and choose to get extra training and exoerience with a view for selection for teh FINA lists - these are selected every 2 years at a National Level

Additional Training

Available on application through Causeway

Swimmers wishing to enter more competitive Meets by age of 9 or 10 will need to consider additional water time.

LTAD principles advise that swimmers at this age will need to increase water sessions to around 4 per week (3 - 8 hours) Min.

With a lot of appropriate cross training and 2 additional water sessions we can get swimmers up to National Level (4 - 6 hours)

Swimmers 14 and above need to have substantially more water time - again we can manage National Qualifying Times with four sessions and a lot of appropriate cross training

Competitive swimmers over 16 need up to 20 hours of water time a week.
